Yes, it was in development for 4 years prior to it’s predecessor being released. Final Fantasy XV received generally favourable reviews from critics, with the game’s combat, soundtrack, visuals, open world design, JRPG elements, lead characters and ending widely praised by critics.

14. Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the second game in the series’ reboot, the follow up to 2013’s Tomb Raider. Combat has been redesigned with more options for stealth and sneak attacks, and Lara can confuse enemies using the environment, hide behind bushes or in trees, or avoid combat altogether by climbing trees or traveling across roof tops.

Rise of the Tomb Raider received excellent reviews, and whilst being quite similar to its predecessor, the game improves on any weaknesses and has evolved sufficiently to be a worthy follow-up.

Titanfall 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, the sequel to 2014’s Titanfall.

Similar to its predecessor, the game is a first-person shooter in which players can control both the pilot, and the Titans. Titanfall 2 was released to positive reviews. Praise was given to the game’s addition to a deeper single-player campaign, multiplayer and gameplay, with many critics agreeing it to be a large improvement over its predecessor.

Dishonored 2 was released to a positive reception. Minecraft is an open world game that has no specific goals for the player to accomplish, allowing players a large amount of freedom in choosing how to play the game. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to play in third person mode.

The core gameplay revolves around breaking and placing blocks. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects—mainly cubes—arranged in a fixed grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, and tree trunks. While players can move freely across the world, objects can only be placed at fixed locations on the grid. Players can gather these material blocks and place them elsewhere, thus allowing for various constructions.

5. The Last of Us Remastered

The Last of Us Remastered is an enhanced remake of 2013’s The Last of Us, released for the PS4 in 2014. Among minor gameplay additions, the game features enhanced graphics and rendering upgrades including increased draw distance, an upgraded combat mechanic and higher frame rate.

The game is set twenty years after an outbreak destroyed much of civilization, exploring the possibility of a fungi infecting humans . The single-player story follows Joel, tasked with escorting the young Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States, in an attempt to create a potential cure against the infection.

The Last of Us was originally considered an exceptional game, and reviewers of Remastered were further impressed with the graphics upgrades, praising all of the enhancements and additions.

First released in 2011, Skyrim is such a fantastic game that the 2016 remaster is still one of the best games on Xbox One despite being five years old.

Skyrim is a huge open-world RPG; the fifth game in Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series and the follow-up to Oblivion. Skyrims main story revolves around the player character and their effort to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world.

2. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

1. Grand Theft Auto V

Whilst originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360, GTA V is so good that when rereleased 14 months later it was immediately rated the best game available for PS4.

The first GTA game with multiple playable characters, GTA 5 follows the plight of Michael, Franklin and Trevor around the state of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles and Southern California.

Whilst GTA 5 only featured a handful of new features on the new-gen consoles, Rockstar did an outstanding job of updating GTA 5 so that it feels right at home on these platforms. Everything looks strikingly better running at full 1080p resolution, with dramatically enhanced textures, lighting effects, and detail in general.
